Will police go looking for a 17 year old girl who left home?
A seventeen year old girl I know left home. She doesn’t do any drugs and has a house. She went a few states away to a state where a law allows 17 year olds to move out at that age. Will police realistically spend the time and money to look for her when shes almost 18? And if she has her name on the lease of the house with her roommate is she then legally allowed to move out?
*she leases a house with a 2 roommates in the state she’s in, she lived with only her mom and siblings before she left
If the parents file a missing persons report or a runaway report, then yes, the police will issue a BOLO (be on the lookout for) notice on the person.
If the police in the state where she is locate her, they will take her into custody, and she will be returned to her home state to deal with juvenile authorities.
